Web Engineer & Senior Web Engineer

How to apply
Please email your CV and website (if you have one) to hiring@daybridge.com, along with anything else you think might help your application. In your email, tell us a bit about you, how you found Daybridge, and what excites you about the possibility of working with us!

We're putting together a talented team to build the world's best calendar.

Daybridge is the calendar the world's been waiting for. Unlike traditional calendar apps, it'll be expressive, intuitive, smart, and beautifully designed. Users will be able to add personal context to their plans, better manage their work/life balance, and more easily find time with others.

You'll build Daybridge with us

As our first full-time web engineer, you'll help shape both our product and the culture of our company. You'll work closely with Daybridge's founder and CEO, Kieran, who'll give you all the support you need.

  • You have strong opinions on how to design, build, and operate consumer-facing products.
  • You're a good communicator, and able to give and receive constructive feedback.
  • You're flexible, and enjoy pitching in on tasks outside of your discipline.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for smart, creative, and dependable engineers who'll seize the opportunity to make their mark at an early-stage company. You should apply if:

  • Are very familiar with React, and have used it to create and deploy production web applications before.
  • Are able to identify and remedy performance bottlenecks in React applications.
  • Have a good understanding of technical concepts that impact the reliability and security of web applications.
  • Are familiar with accessibility standards and how to implement them in practice.

What experience we're looking for

We're looking for people who:

  • Prioritise features, bug fixes, and performance improvements.
  • Implement customer-facing product features alongside our designers, mobile engineers, and backend engineers.
  • Build our web component library, enabling us to re-use components across our web applications.

Our technical stack

We use TypeScript as our main language, which allows us to efficiently share code across our frontend and backend. We also use:

  • Vercel to deploy our web applications.
  • React and Next.js to build our frontend applications.
  • React Query to manage data fetching and synchronisation with our backend.

Our culture

We're committed to building a diverse and inclusive team where everyone is empowered to do their best work. You'll feel welcome at Daybridge regardless of your gender, ethnicity, sexuality, disability status, nationality, age, or religion. We aim to hire people who have faced structural barriers to entry in the technology industry.

Honest and open

We strongly believe that performance and ambition shouldn't come at the cost of mutual respect and thoughtful communication.

Creative and entrepreneurial

We'll give you the space to try out new ideas, and the support you need to ship them.

Independent and responsible

We'll trust you to take ownership of your discipline and role.

Happy and healthy

We work sensible hours and respect work-life boundaries.

Interview process

We want our interview process to be as straightforward and enjoyable as possible. The first step will be a quick call to discuss the basics of the role and to help decide if we'll be a good fit. We'll then follow up with a coding exercise - or, if you prefer, you can provide us with an interesting piece of code you've already written, which we'll discuss.

There'll also be a one-hour general technical interview (no trick questions or whiteboard exercises), which could either be wrapped into the coding exercise or completed at a later date.

Once the process is finished, we promise to let you know our decision as soon as possible.

How to apply

Frequently asked questions, answered.

Are you looking for freelancers or contractors?
We regularly work with contractors and freelancers to support us with smaller projects, mostly in non-engineering roles. We prefer to work with people on a full-time basis so we can offer ownership in the company. However, our priority is to work with the best people regardless of their situation; so are open to freelancers and contractors who only want to work with us on a temporary basis.
Do you offer internships or placements?
While we have no formal internship programme at Daybridge, we'll always consider exceptional candidates with experience working on production systems. We're also happy to meet candidates interested in future roles at Daybridge (e.g. following graduation).
Where are your offices?
We're currently working from home, but have office space in London, UK - near Farringdon station.
Do you hire recent graduates?
We welcome graduates to apply for a role at Daybridge. In your application, you need to demonstrate relevant experience: whether through employment and internships, or through personal projects and contributions to open source.
Can you sponsor visas?
We can't sponsor visas right now. We'll be working on securing a visa sponsorship license in the future.
Do you work with recruiters?
We aren't working with recruiters right now, but this might change in the future.
